Still Sixteen

▶ Expected 15 November 2026

A song about being fifty-something and still, somehow, sixteen on the inside. The wisdom he was sure would show up by now — still hasn't.

Still Sixteen started as an observation, not a complaint. The men Big D used to watch when he was young — the ones who seemed to have it figured out, who carried themselves like they'd already read the last page — turned out to be exactly his age now. The certainty never showed up. He still feels sixteen most days. Nobody warned him that would happen.

The song moves from the outside in: the way you used to look at fifty and think it meant something settled, then the turn of actually getting there, then the closing observation that the whole thing runs in a circle — you arrive in this world needing everything, and it turns out leaving isn't so different. It says that once, right at the end, and lets it land quietly rather than explaining the joke.

Track Listing

1 Still Sixteen Lyrics & story

The whole song in one line: nobody told the sixteen-year-old inside you that he was supposed to go away. Verse, chorus, verse, bridge, chorus, and a coda that doesn't try to wrap it up — just admits to being slightly confused about the rest.
